Matthew K. Suess joined the firm as an associate in 2015. Mr. Suess was born and raised in St. Louis. He received his undergraduate degree with honors from the Sally McDonnell-Barksdale Honors College at Ole Miss, where he majored in History and minored in English, Philosophy, and Classics. Mr. Suess spent the spring of 2011 at the University of Edinburgh, where he studied the enlightenment philosophy and political theory.

Mr. Suess returned to St. Louis in 2012 to attend Washington University School of Law as a Scholar in Law. While in law school, he served as the Chief Executive Articles Editor for Jurisprudence Review, the only student-edited journal of jurisprudence in the United States. His article, “Punishment in the State of Nature: John Locke and Criminal Punishment in the United States of America,” was published in 2015.

Mr. Suess is licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Illinois. He focuses on the defense of businesses, municipal corporations, and individuals who are sued in both the Federal and State courts. He handles product liability, inverse condemnation, premises liability, and automobile liability. He is also a member of the firm’s insurance coverage group. His work includes complex research and writing. He has submitted successful dispositive motions in both State and Federal court on behalf of his clients.
