Jonathan Gottschalk

After joining Rynearson, Suess, Schnurbusch & Champion, LLC in 2021 as a law clerk, Mr. Gottschalk remained with the firm after passing the July 2023 Missouri bar examination. He received his Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law in May 2023. While in law school, he was an active member of the SLU Law trial advocacy team, competing in both regional and national competitions.

J. Michael Waller

Mike Waller joined Rynearson, Suess, Schnurbusch & Champion in 2017 where he handles automobile liability, premises liability, governmental liability and general liability lawsuits in both the state and federal courts in Missouri.

Caden Owens

Caden grauated from the Saint Louis University School of Law in 2023 and joined Rynearson, Suess, Schnurbush & Champion, where his practice is dedicated to civil litigation, the defense of personal injury and tort claims. 

Sabrina Bentele

Sabrina Bentele joined Rynearson, Suess, Schnurbusch & Champion in 2024 as an Associate Attorney practicing civil litigation. Sabrina focuses her practice in trucking litigation, products liability, premises liability, automobile liability and insurance defense. Sabrina is licensed to practice in the State of Missouri.

Dean Stark

Dean Stark has been an attorney in the firm’s litigation section since 2006. Prior to joining RSS&C, Mr. Stark was an attorney in the commercial litigation department of a large Saint Louis firm. Mr. Stark has tried over 30 cases to jury verdict in both state and federal court, and appeared before both state and federal appellate courts. His litigation experience includes representation of clients both as Plaintiff and Defendant in a wide variety of commercial cases including breach of contract, real estate, commercial tort claims, environmental issues, and claims arising under the Copyright Act and Federal Lanham Act. He also has trial experience in the defense of premises liability claims on behalf of retailers and personal injury from automobile accident claims.

Matthew Suess

Matthew Suess focuses his practice on insurance defense, complex commercial litigation, corporate law, and catastrophic tort cases. Matthew provides practical, hands-on advice to national and international clients in business transactions, risk management, and litigation, from Fortune-500 companies to closely-held corporations. He is licensed in Missouri, Illinois, and California, and has appeared in both state and federal courts in those jurisdictions. He is experienced in every aspect of litigation, from initial evaluation through trial.

Stephen Barber

Over the past twenty years, Mr. Barber has worked for several firms in various areas of the law, including insurance defense, personal injury litigation, collections, workers compensation and appellate practice. Mr. Barber has tried and argued cases at the trial level in both state and federal court and has briefed and argued appeals in the Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of the Missouri Court of Appeals as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Mr. Barber is licensed in the states of Missouri, Illinois and Connecticut.

Michelle White

Michelle White is a 2002 Graduate of Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. Her practice concentrates in the areas of insurance defense, personal injury, estate planning, family law, and multi-family housing governmental affairs. Michelle has a strong civil litigation background handling complex commercial matters and domestic matters in both State and Federal Court.

Katherine Smith

Katherine Smith focuses her practice in the area of Insurance Defense in both Missouri and Illinois. From personal auto lines to common carriers, homeowners to commercial, construction to products liability, she has extensive experience in defending and litigating both first and third party insurance matters—with a special focus on claims involving issues of bad faith refusal and vexatious refusal.
